The Cameroon Boxing Federation is organising a boxing tournament this 8th to 10th November 2019. The “Tournoi de l Unité” will hold in Yaounde at the mythical “Camp de l Unité Boxing Gym”. This tournament will mobilize about 60 boxers in 8 weight classes, from all over the country.
As from 4pm the quarter finals will hold on Friday 8th, the semi finals on Saturday 9th and the Finals on Sunday 10th at the same time.
The main objective of this endeavor is to prepare the athletes for upcoming International competitions, such as the African Amateur Boxing Championship schedule on January 2020 in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the final qualifying tournament for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 to hold in Senegal in the month of February of the same year.
The ” Tournoi de l Unité” will showcase the best pugilistic talent Cameroon has. The likes of
Tebokbe Dieudonné, current gold medalist in the 69kg category,
Issouhou Mahaman, current silver medalist in the 52kg category, of the ” Zone 3″ African Amateur Boxing Championship that took place last May in Libreville Gabon
Kond Donatien in the 91kg category, who obtained gold in the “Zone 2” African Amateur Boxing Championship that held last August in Praia, Cape Verde.
Some ladies will also ploy their craft in the “Tournoi de l Unité”, notably Mambou Dorine of the 60kg category who is current gold medalist in the recent All African Games that held in Casablanca, Morocco some months back.
Other local talents will have the opportunity to showcase their boxing prowess. The likes of Tchouta Mbianda Aristide of Gabelou Boxing Club Douala in the 57kg category, Mevoah Narcisse of Forces Armees et Police also in the 57kg category, Mengue Ayissi Albert of Copacabanna Boxing Club Yaounde in the 69kg category, Yao Saly of Regiment d Artillerie Sol Sol (RASS) Nkongsamba in the 75kg category just to name those few, would be interesting to watch.
The tournament will be under the technical supervision of the technical supervision of the college of national team coaches made up of Tchwem Justin, Eyidi Narcisse, Ngatcha Didier, Mayo Mayo François and Mognemo Jean Paul. The President of the Federation, Mr Mendouga Magloire will be the general supervisor.
